Safe as houses at the back and kicked well. Good effort to chase through on the kick which led to his try in the second half. 8/10

Spectacular finish for his try. Had few opportunities in the second spell. 7/10

3 Ethan Nukanuka

Had high involvement and went looking for work. Wasn’t afforded much space with the ball. 7/10

4 Harley Maynard

Made a couple of handling errors early on but bounced back well. 6/10

5 James Taumata

Worked hard coming out of yardage. A reliable presence out wide. 7/10

15 Hawaikii Annandale

Took a back set to Hotene in terms of involvement. Kicked well when asked to and certainly didn’t let anyone down. 6/10

7 Carlos Hotene

Constantly challenged the Samoa line with his footwork. Showed real skill to score the opening try. 7/10

16 Siliga Kepaoa

His running battle with Tony Tuia was a highlight. A pillar of strength in the middle for Auckland. 7/10

9 Reuben Tolovae

Good energy and provided crisp service from dummy-half. A standout for Auckland despite hooker not being his usual position. 8/10

11 Richard Holani 

Good run to score his try and got through plenty in the middle. 7/10

19 Justus Leoseve 

Didn’t have a great deal of chances with the ball, but looked good when he did have carries. 6/10

12 Moses Oge

Had a really strong game. Broke the line with a great run and added some aggression on both sides of the ball. Picked up an injury with 15 to play. 7/10

13 Kouma Samson

Was having a great game in the middle before going down with a knee injury early in the second half. 6/10


10 Caleb Uele

Took it to the Samoa forwards with a number of strong carries. Had good energy in his work. 7/10

14 Nick Wilson

Didn’t get much opportunity to threaten the line in attack, but got through plenty of work. 6/10

17 Sione Tongia

Delivered some good impact with his hit-ups and was among Auckland’s best middle forwards. 7.5/10

18 Joseph Ng Lam 

Scored a nice try late in the match and didn’t put a foot wrong in his time on the park. 6.5/10
