Akarana defend national title
The Akarana Falcons have defended their National Premiership title, beating Waikato, 30-4 on Saturday night in Auckland.
Siliga Kepaoa crossed the line for the first try of the game, which was converted by Mark Graham, and a short time later Akarana doubled their lead.
Up 12-0 at the break, Akarana caught Waikato napping to score twice early in the second and take the margin out to 24-0.
Waikato got one back through Eric Taiulu, but in the final 10 minutes Northcote Tiger Cole Waaka stretched the final margin out to 30-4.
Meanwhile Counties Manukau powered past Bay of Plenty 64-4 to remain in the National Premiership next year.
