The London-based Wests Warriors will head to Greece in May to take on an Athens XIII in the Greek capital.
The Warriors’ team is made up predominantly of New Zealanders and Australians, and this year took part in the UK’s Challenge Cup competition.
With Greece having secured qualification to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, the match will serve as an opportunity for locally-based players to put their name forward for the national team.
The Athens collective will be made up of players from Greek domestic clubs the Attica Rhinos, Aris Eagles, Athens Raiders and AEK Rugby.
Politics surrounding rugby league in Greece forced the Greek national side to play their Test matches in other countries, or have officials go to extreme lengths, including circulating fake game information, in order for the team to play.
