Laura Mariu, Honey Hireme and Teuila Fotu-Moala are in the running for the award, with all three currently taking part in the inaugural NRL Women’s Premiership as well.

At 37 years of age, Mariu continues to perform at the highest levels, and earlier this year was named as the Warriors’ captain for the new competition.

Hireme comes off a World Cup where she scored a remarkable 13 tries in four appearances, while Fotu-Moala picked up the Player of the Tournament award at the same event.

Australian Jillaroos Ali Brigginshaw and Simaima Taufa are the other two nominees.
