With seven players making their debut for the Kiwis in Denver, we asked a couple of veteran New Zealand internationals who their standout players were in the loss to England.
Esan Marsters, the kid at centre, man he just couldn’t be tackled. It was good to see him break out, break heaps of tackles and go through there and play really well.
I was really happy for Issac Luke to be back on the scene too. I know he was gutted he missed out [previously].

It was just exciting to see all those debutants get a shot wearing the black jersey, especially someone like Slade [Griffin]. I was really excited for him, I spent a few years with him in Melbourne and seeing how far has has come with all the adversity he has faced… I was really excited for him.
I probably wouldn’t be able to get through what he’s gone through, he’s an extremely hard worker and one of the toughest people I know.
