Player ratings: Warriors v Titans

The Warriors made it a perfect two from two to start 2018, with an impressive 20-8 victory over an injury-hit Gold Coast Titans on Saturday. Here’s how we rated each of the Warriors’ players.

1 Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

Burst through the line for a long-range break early in the first half and then ran an excellent line to score a short time later. Did all the right things to set Solomone Kata up late in the match. Ran for almost 150 metres in the first half alone, and 200 all up. 8.5/10

2 David Fusitu’a

Another game, another two tries. The second was a miraculous leap and take. Good under the high ball defensively and worked hard when required to carry the ball. 7.5/10

3 Peta Hiku

Summed up play nicely on the final pass for Fusitu’a’s try. Looked good every time he got a run with the Steeden. 7/10

4 Solomone Kata

Had limited chances on the ball, but took full advantage when he did get a shot inside the attacking 20, powering over for a try. Did well to limit the impact of Konrad Hurrell for the most part. 6/10

5 Ken Maumalo

A more complete performance than last week. Another plus-100 metre game for the big wing. Did get caught out on a kick late in the game which gifted the Titans their only try. 5.5/10

6 Blake Green

Delivered a deft inside ball for Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s try. Took the ball to the line bravely. 7/10

7 Shaun Johnson

Like some sort of Russian ballerina who is also really good at rugby league. Caused no end of dramas for the Titans’ defence with his elusive running and nimble feet. His kick chase was also a feature. 8/10

8 James Gavet

Strong in his opening stint. Carried the ball with intent, gaining over 110 metres, and getting through 18 tackles all up. The best front-rower for the Warriors in Round 2. 7/10

9 Issac Luke

Got out and tested the marker defence on a number of occasions and looked good. Played big minutes again. 7/10

10 Adam Blair

Higher involvement than in Round 1. Got through 24 tackles and carried 10 times. His ball-playing at the line was a feature. 6.5/10

11 Isaiah Papali’i

Left the ground after eight minutes with a leg injury. 2/10

12 Tohu Harris

Great late pass to Peta Hiku to help set up the opening try. Got through plenty of work on both sides of the ball, running for over 120 metres and making 34 tackles. 8/10

13 Ligi Sao

Modest output across the game, but did bring some good aggression to the match in the opening exchanges. 5/10

14 Sam Cook

Had his named called with less than 10 minutes to go. Came on and didn’t make any mistakes at dummy-half. 3/10

15 Leivaha Pulu

Went looking for the ball after an early introduction following Papali’i’s injury. Put on a fine showing against his old Gold Coast team. 7/10

16 Sam Lisone

Brought plenty of energy into the match and kept things rolling after a good opening stanza from the starters in the engine room. 6.5/10

17 Bunty Afoa

Strong again off the bench. Made his mark with 93 run metres from 11 carries. Unlucky not to set up a try when he trampled over the top of a would-be defender and broke free midway through the second half. 7.5/10
