We run the rule over all of the New Zealand Warriors players who saw game time in the club’s first NRL trial of the year against the Melbourne Storm in Geelong. (Photo: warriors.kiwi).

3 Patrick Herbert

Delivered a nice final pass to set up the first try. Made a clean line break and produced a clever chip would could have finished in a try. Solid under the high ball too. 7.5/10

25 Neria Fomai

Scored a try and got involved in the yardage work. 6/10

4 Blake Ayshford

A couple of good touches in attack, and was reliable in defence. 6/10

20 Cole Waaka

Struggled to impose himself for the most part. Had plenty of traffic sent down his edge. 4/10

2 Adam Pompey

Looked a bit nervous out on the wing, with a few errors coming off the back of apprehension. No doubting his athleticism though.  4/10

7 Adam Keighran

Went about his work nicely. His passing was crisp and he constantly tested the line. The less involved of the two starting halves overall, but he looked reliable. 6.5/10

6 Chanel Harris-Tavita

Looked lively and wanted the ball. Held up pretty well defensively and directed things nicely, with a few quality passes on attacking movements. Handled almost all of the general play kicking while he was on the park, but struggled with it, often finding Melbourne players on the full. 6.5/10

10 Chris Satae

Got through a fair chunk of work in the first half. 5.5/10

11 Nate Roache

Nice showing considering his injury troubles of late. Got out of dummy-half and engaged the markers well. Was enthusiastic in attack. 6.5/10

12 Lachlan Burr

Will be a good chance of earning a bench spot in the NRL side if he can keep this up. Carried well the whole time he was on the park. Solid defensively in the middle. 7.5/10

5 Brodie Tamarua

Made a last-minute intervention to save a try in the final quarter, but got done by footwork on a break Melbourne should have scored from early on. 5/10

16 Ligi Sao

Busy in defence, and had some good hit-ups. Looked a little more mobile than in previous seasons. 7/10

15 Sam Lisone

Really good energy in the opening exchanges, earning a penalty in the lead up to the Warriors’ first try. Seemed to pop up everywhere at times in the match. 7.5/10

1 Paul Turner

Did enough as last man to prevent a Storm try in the third quarter. Covered kicks well at fullback. 6/10

9 Sam Cook

Gave decent service when he came on to relieve Roache. Chased well to help save a try in quarter three, before being sent to the sin bin for holding down. 6/10

13 Jazz Tevaga

14 Isaiah Papali’i

Really strong defensively. Looked best when in the middle of the park, rather than sitting on an edge. 7.5/10

17 Lewis Soosemea

Limited opportunities. No obvious errors. 5/10

18 Hayze Perham

Took his chance well to race through a gap and round the fullback for the winning try. Looked composed on the footy when he got his chances. 6.5/10

21 Bunty Afoa

Made his mark as soon as he came on. Played how you would expect him to, given the opposition. 7.5/10

22 Tom Ale

Put himself about well while he was on the park. 5.5/10

23 Api Pewhairangi

Gave Ayshford no chance when he fired a rocket pass at him from close range. Organised play well off the ball though, with good talk. 5.5/10

24 Sean Mullany

Brought nice energy to the game late on. Showed good awareness to deliver a quick pass to Perham in the lead up to the game-winning try. 6/10
