Close but not close enough for the Warriors. We rate each of the 17 players who took the field for the Warriors in the 20-14 loss to the Storm on Anzac Day.

1 Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

Excellent again, running for 230 metres and he was strong in defence. Set up Fusitu’a’s second try with some nice quick hands down the right. 8/10

2 Blake Ayshford

Had a nice touch to set up Fusitu’a’s first try and got through plenty in defence. 6.5

3 David Fusitu’a

Finished his tries nicely and was a good contributor on the ball across the 80 minutes. Did his Kiwis selection hopes no harm. 7

4 Solomone Kata

Managed only half the game. 4

5 Ken Maumalo

Busy again, but also far too many errors again. Made a crucial error coming out of yardage and had some worrying moments in defence. 5

6 Kieran Foran

Looked to be struggling with his hamstring injury and struggled to get involved. Laid on a nice pass on the way to the Warriors scoring their second try. 5.5

7 Shaun Johnson

Really good in attack where he kept Melbourne honest all night with a good mix of passing and running. Put himself about nicely in defence with some big hits. 7

8 James Gavet

Carried for 134 metres and set the tone well. Made 21 tackles with just the one miss. 6.5

9 Issac Luke

Limited impact but didn’t let anyone down in  defence. 5.5

10 Jacob Lillyman

Another game with over 111 metres. Had a couple of costly errors with missed tackles and a penalty. 5.5

11 Bodene Thompson

Had to shift to the centres to cover for Kata’s loss, meaning another week playing out of position. But he’s lacking the impact he has had over the past couple of seasons. 5

12 Ryan Hoffman

Contributed nicely down the left, carrying 13 times for 132 metres. 6.5

13 Simon Mannering

Held the middle together as usual, playing the full 80 minutes and clocking 45 tackles with over 100 run metres. 7

Interchange:

14 Nathaniel Roache

Only played 12 minutes. 4

16 Ligi Sao

Busy in a 23-minute stint. 5

17 Sam Lisone

Added some energy when he came on and finished with 85 run metres. 5.5

18 Ben Matulino

Solid in his first game back from a long lay-off with injury. Made 20 tackles and ran for 89 metres. 6
