Each week fans on our social media accounts vote for their NZ Player of the Round, with a running leaderboard which decides the 2017 kiwileaguecentral.com NZ Player of the Year.
Warriors skipper Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Manly enforcer Martin Taupau couldn’t be split in voting for the Round 8 NZ Player of the Week, with Taupau winning our tiebreaker to take maximum points from last week.
The Kiwi international was huge for the Sea Eagles in their golden point win over the Canberra Raiders, carrying the ball 17 times for 171 metres in just an hour on the park.
Tuivasa-Sheck meanwhile was the Warriors’ best player in a losing effort against the Melbourne Storm, achieving his usual 200 metres in yardage and setting up a try up in a busy performance on the park. ‘RTS’ joins Jason Taumalolo, who received a point in Round 8, as the joint-leader heading into week nine.
Marist Saints junior Leivaha Pulu picked up his first NZ Player of the Year points for 2017 thanks to a stellar showing off the bench which saw him score two crucial tries as the Titans beat Cronulla 16-12.
