The Kiwis blew a half-time lead to go down 36-18 to England in front of a 19,320-strong crowd in Denver.
Esan Marsters crossed for a try on debut to open the scoring, while a Dallin Watene-Zelezniak try and second conversion from Jamayne Isaako gave New Zealand a 12-0 lead.
England scored in quick succession to reduce the half-time gap to 12-10.
The Kiwis were starved of the ball in the second half, and off the back of all their possession England ran riot to blow the scoreline out.
